Authorities said SWAT negotiators were called and that the woman was ultimately able to get out of the apartment safely by going through an apartment window. A police sergeant said roughly 20 minutes into negotiations with the man he then jumped out of the same apartment window, trying to run from the scene. SAN ANTONIO – A standoff between San Antonio police and a local man has ended after he took his own life inside a vehicle in the parking lot of a Northeast Side McDonald’s restaurant early Monday morning. According to police, a relative of the man was able to track his phone and locate him after receiving word he might be suicidal. Authorities said the relative tried to talk to him, but at some point he pulled out a gun and that’s when they called police. Negotiators for several hours tried to resolve things peacefully, but shortly after 6 a.m. the man took his own life. The name of the man killed was not released by police.
